High School Program (J-1 visa program)

The Academic Year Program is a J-1 visa program designed for high school students from around the world to spend one semester or one year of their high school experience in the United States. Foreign students come and stay with a volunteer host family and attend a local public high school. Occasionally, a small private school can also be used in this program as well.  A local representative selects, screens and visits the host family to ensure that the potential family is a caring and loving family, capable of hosting an exchange student.  The local representative visits the local school and receives approval for the foreign student to attend classes.  In addition, this local representative orientates the host families and students upon arrival, as well as maintaining monthly contact with the exchange students and host families during their stay in the United States.
